Monsieur Herr is an ongoing musical art project from Southern California headed by Riley Maiden. His goals are unknowable but are vaguely shaped like rock music. How far can too far go?

Monsieur Herr's first release of note. A synth-pop tour de farce described variously as "musical art deco" and as itself.

Knee-deep in the annals of faux-sophistication. Like Elvis Costello's Trust, a major source of inspiration (cover art can attest), Dusk AM can feasibly be described as the aural equivalent of penne pasta in a pink vodka sauce, garnished with a single sprig of parsley, and served with a white wine of dubious quality. Maybe a $10 pinot grigio or something. Presence of grated parmesan not confirmed, but highly likely, and in massive quantities.

Presumably an extended play. An examination of the nature of integrity, or the lack thereof, in art -- integrity in every sense of the word. You'll notice that I used two dashes instead of an em dash (—) because apparently if I use em dashes I will be outed as a robot. However, I've been using em dashes long before robots co-opted them, so they can fuck off. ALT+0151 for life motherfucker. Incidentally, also contains the Microsongs suite.

Arguably the most overtly "TMBG-esque" of Monsieur Herr's albums. Contains songs about people's heads turning into animal heads, the marketability of nostalgia, coming out as a trans woman, car accidents, and more. Your mileage may vary depending on your personal affinity for that sort of thing and your ability to take it seriously. Remixed and resequenced in 2024 (see: Reverb Cemetery) because the original mix was too tinny and the original track order was lousy.

Best described as "black licorice bubblegum." Heavily varied in style -- from gloomy power pop to angular auditory assaults -- and wide-reaching in its scope, Vibes is decidedly Not For Everybody. Monsieur Herr on the whole is Not For Everybody. He has begrudgingly come to accept this. The album can be used either to enhance the severity of one's latent anxiety or as a point of comparison.

Collaboration album with Zhir Vengersky of Zhir Vengersky fame. Recorded in the summers of 2023 and 2024. Must be heard to be believed.

A triumph of Music for Overthinkers, Buying Into the Hype is pop music that can be enjoyed in its entirety without reservation. A record thoroughly steeped in the Now. Inevitable 60s comparisons remain strong. By the way, the text on the piece of paper reads "prepared remarks."
